Dumb and Dumber
You know, it just pisses me off that bright kids in US public schools are hindered by anal retentive professors who insist that they follow silly guidelines that were created by very white, very dead, very religious men. Teachers need to learn how to TEACH—that’s all there is to it. Kids today can't read and write, because teachers “teach” down to the stupid kids, not up to the middle level or bright kids and it's not gonna change any time soon. Kids today just get stupider and stupider (yay) if you compare them to the students of Plato and Aristotle, they're about as bright as a rock. Children in other countries speak their native language and usually at least one other by the age of ten. They can write quite well by the age of ten, and I’m not talking about penmanship. The funny thing is parents blame kids problems on teachers/administrators, while teachers blame it on parents, and that leaves the kids high and dry.

Long Time No Type
it seems I have been severely lax in my blogging. after reading a ton of blogs recently, i discovered how much i really should be posting more and such. this is a brief blog to mark the upcoming blogs i intend to post (and hopefully will get around to). in case you're not familiar with me already, which is highly unlikely, i have a tendency to spell properly, use large words, and positively avoid capitalization, though punctuation tends to be well within the realm of "my forte". be prepared to deal with it until i decide to quit being lazy and use ms word as my editor or something.
so you have a better picture of how i got to where i am today, right now, at this very moment in time you'll need a little back story:
about six months ago, i "stumbled upon" the site StumbleUpon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/home/) where from there i have continued to stumble my interests to get me random photos for wall paper, interesting tidbits of information about artificial sweeteners, sheep herding, writing, and random other things. last night i was stumbling merrily along...well after my exceptionally early bed time...and discovered a site that was titled "50 Things Everyone Should Know How To Do" (www.lewrockwell.com/spl2/50-things-should-know-how-to-do.html) which is an exceptionally interesting collection of videos and how to guides on how to start a fire, win/avoid a fist fight, select good produce, negotiate, etc.
i didn't have a specific item on the 50 things list i wanted to learn, and i still haven't gotten through more than 5-6 because i got stuck on one author after following his link about "How To Actually Win a Fistfight" (http://blog.joethepeacock.com/2008/01/how-to-acutally-win-fist-fight.php?pagewanted=all). he's a very poignant writer and is a published author or a "working writer" as he calls it. it was really his religious beliefs article (http://blog.joethepeacock.com/2011/01/you-want-to-know-my-religious-beliefs.html) that got me hooked, and yes, just so you know, that's damned near where i am with my beliefs and he's gone and saved me all that typing. anyway, after having already stayed up far too late, i responsibly decided to postpone my further reading until this evening, whereupon the below ensued:
lately i've been getting back into the swing of writing (after a hiatus of about 6-7 years) after having been burned out through hs and college. i've been doing a little bit of poetry writing and compilation/editing of past works (which are sometimes quite laughable, imo) and saw one of his articles/series "The Absolute No-Bulls**t Guide To Writing, Publishing And Selling A Book"(http://blog.joethepeacock.com/2010/07/absolute-no-bullst-guide-to-writing.html). of course this linked me to several other subsequent articles and pages. as a result, i am strongly contemplating participation in NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org/). i've thought of doing it many times, but the ANBGtW got me more pumped than before. i would love to get feedback from anyone who cares to provide it on the future nature of this upcoming endeavor.
this is all for now...will keep you posted on my stumbling, writing, etc.
